b. (father / mother) Not much is known about him except that he most probably was a wealthy farmer in Andrushivka, Vinnytsia oblast. He also was a volostnoj starshina, which was an elected rural official with adminstrative and police power. His sign of this office is still in the family and is shown below.
It's said that Kornij was a descendant of a Zaporozhian cossack named Stepan Pypa. After Catherine the Great had disbanded the Zaporozhian Sich in 1775 Stepan moved to a village named Pustovoytivka in Poltava gubernia. He lived there for some years but finally moved to the village of Andrushivka where he got some land from the count close to the forest called Rizhok in the eastern part of the village.
