Nestir worked as a lineman at the railway close to Andrushivka, Vinnytsia oblast. He also had a small farm in the village that his wife took care of. They lived in a wooden house that was built in 1901.

He was married to Uljana. They had many children but only four survived their childhood.

Children:

Fedot, b. 1898. He served in the Red Army during World War II and was killed in combat already in 1941.

Mykhajlo. He lived in Kharkiv where he worked at a tractor factory. After the German invasion the factory was evacuated to Stalingrad in 1941. He disappeared there during the war and most probably he was killed during the battle of Stalingrad. His children stayed in Andrushivka and lived there also after the war.

Anastasija, b. 1905, September 30, d. 1995, May 1.

Semen, b. 1917, d. 1937 in Kyiv. He was a student at Kyiv Naval High School, where he soon got ill and died.
